A group of professional individuals once posed a simple yet profound question to a group of 4 to 8-year-olds: "What does love mean?" The answers they received were beyond expectations, encompassing a deeper understanding of love than one could have imagined. These innocent and insightful responses have inspired us to reflect on the essence of love and its connection to our Christian values.

Rebecca, an 8-year-old, shared a touching story about her grandparents. When her grandmother developed arthritis and couldn't paint her own toenails anymore, her grandfather lovingly took on the task despite his own arthritic hands. Rebecca recognized this act as a true demonstration of love – selflessly caring for someone even when faced with their own challenges.

From the perspective of 4-year-old Billy, love is reflected in the way someone says your name. The safety and comfort felt when our name is spoken by a loved one signify the depth of their affection. It is a reminder that love is not only expressed in words but also in the genuine care and respect we show towards one another.

Karl, a 5-year-old, offered a unique perspective on love. He described it as a sensory experience, where a boy and a girl put on their favorite scents and enjoy smelling each other. This innocent example teaches us that love is about embracing the presence of others and finding joy in their company.

Chrissy, a 6-year-old, explained love in the context of sharing. When going out to eat, she believes that love means giving someone most of your French fries without expecting anything in return. This simple act of selflessness highlights the importance of generosity and putting others' needs before our own.

Terri, a 4-year-old, shared a profound insight that love is what makes us smile when we are tired. In moments of exhaustion, the love and support we receive from our loved ones bring us comfort and rejuvenate our spirits. It is a reminder that love has the power to uplift and energize us even in the most challenging times.

Danny, an 8-year-old, provided a heartwarming example of love between his parents. He observed that his mother always takes a sip of coffee before giving it to his father, ensuring its taste is perfect. This small gesture of consideration reminds us that love lies in the details – the thoughtfulness and care we put into our interactions with those we love.

Bobby, a 7-year-old, shared a profound perspective on love during Christmas. He noted that love is not found in the presents we unwrap, but rather in the moments of genuine connection and presence. Bobby's words encourage us to appreciate the love that surrounds us and to prioritize meaningful connections over material possessions.

Nikka, a wise 6-year-old, challenged us to grow in love by suggesting that we start with befriending those we may dislike. By extending love and understanding, we can foster unity and personal growth. Nikka's words remind us of the transformative power of love in our lives and in the world around us.

Noelle, a 7-year-old, highlighted the impact of our words and actions on others. She shared that love is when you compliment someone's shirt, and they wear it every day. This example teaches us the importance of uplifting and affirming others, as our kind words have the power to bring joy and confidence.

Tommy, a 6-year-old, emphasized the enduring nature of love. He described it as the friendship between a little old man and a little old woman who remain friends even after knowing each other for a long time. Tommy's words remind us that love is built on a foundation of friendship, respect, and understanding.

Cindy, an 8-year-old, shared a touching moment from her piano recital. Amidst her fear, she found courage by seeing her father waving and smiling at her. His unwavering support and love helped her overcome her stage fright. Cindy's story reminds us that love provides strength and encouragement in times of vulnerability.

Clare, a 6-year-old, expressed the unconditional love of a mother. She shared how her mother kisses her goodnight, a gesture that no one else does. Clare's words remind us of the unique bond between a parent and child, a love that knows no bounds.
